Shira Schlesinger is the Director of Education & Innovation for the Los Angeles County EMS Agency, Associate Fellowship Director for the Harbor-UCLA/LA County EMS Fellowship, Emergency Medicine faculty for Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, and Medical Director for the Newport Beach Fire Department. In these roles, she provides medical advisement and education in EMS and disaster preparedness to both prehospital and hospital personnel from paramedics to physicians. Dr. Schlesinger also serves as a Medical Officer for the National Disaster Medical Service and serves on several advisory committees, sharing her passion for prehospital care and preparedness with others in Emergency Medicine and EMS. She currently chairs the California EMS for Children Technical Advisory Committee, and is a member of the EMS Committee of ACEP and of the Board of Directors for the Council of Accreditation of EMS Programs. Dr. Schlesinger is dedicated to advancing prehospital and hospital unscheduled care in the context of overall public health and to improving health outcomes in the communities we serve. In service of this goal she lectures extensively on topics at the interface of EMS, Disaster Preparedness, and Public Health.
